Holy Week Help!

Youth Worship Assistants (Acolytes)
Sign-ups are now live for January through August of 2017. We really need students to sign-up to help lead worship. This is an opportunity to better understand worship and experience what it is like to use gifts and talents in inspiring others to praise God. Remember, students need to assist as an acolyte at least 15 times over two year, and assist in some other capacity at least ten times (reader, usher, music, etc.)

Acolyte Sign-up can be found by clicking here.

Youth Reader Sign-up can be found by clicking here

Parent-Teacher Sign-up can be found here. Remember, we need parents to help out in teaching class at least two-three times.

Easter Sunday and Holy Week
We have many worship services going on between April 9 - April 16. Services are happening that Maundy Thursday (7:00PM), Good Friday (7:00PM), and Saturday (Easter Vigil - 5:00PM), as well as Easter Sunday services on April 16th at 8:30, 9:43, and 11:00AM. We need at least two acolytes for each of those services on Easter morning. You can even stick around to help out with the Easter Breakfast, bring hospitality to the many worshippers that morning (and get a few service hours done in the process).

There will not be a regular Confirmation class on April 16 (Easter Sunday).
Open to all disciples high school age (and current 8th grade students) and older.
This trip is filling up fast. Please register as soon as possible.

Vacation Bible School - August 1st-5th, 2016

Help-out by volunteering to lead this outreach and learning event for area children.

Eighth Grade Information

There are a number of important details pertaining to the end of Confirmation. Please be sure to check the handout you received at the beginning of the school year. This handout is also on the Confirmation website, or you by clicking here

Capstone Project: Remember that all 8th grade students are to complete a final "capstone" project for Confirmation. The recommended project is the 3G Project which is highlighted on the Confirmation website. You may do another project, but this will need to be discussed with Aaron. Deadline for all projects is February 12th. These should be done by now and will need to be completed prior to your conversation with a pastor.

Pastor Conversation: Parent(s) and student(s) should also schedule a conversation with one of the pastors. These are informal discussions on your confirmation experience, capstone project, and how you will continue on in your faith journey. These meetings are half an hour and the pastors have set aside time on Saturdays at 3:00, 3:30, and 4:00PM on February 25 and March 4, 11, 18, 25. You can sign-up by emailing Aaron or find the sheet on the counter as you enter the office area next time you are at the church. Please contact the pastors directly if you are in need of setting up another time for this conversation outside of these offered spaces.

Affirmation of Baptism: On Sunday, May 7th at 11:00AM, students will be leading worship as they are surrounded by friends and family as they make public affirmation of their baptism. Save this date and invite family, friends, and god-parents. Please be thinking about your a Bible verse that sums up the faith experience of your child or has some traditional meaning in your family. Also be thinking about the number of guests you may have at this service. More information will be mailed home soon.

Other Happenings

St. Louis Mission Trip
Students currently in 8th grade and older are also welcome to take part in a summer mission trip each year. The summer 2017 trip will be in St. Louis from June 25-July 1. We will be working with the group AMEN - St. Louis (check them out by googling their name). Registration forms will be made available soon. A requirement for going on this trip is regular attendance at monthly meetings and activities as we prepare for this mission trip.

Youth Ministry Team
Are you interested in helping plan out high school events, confirmation, summer mission trips, and various fundraiser efforts? You should consider joining the Youth Ministry Team. We have just relaunched our team and usually meet on a Monday or Tuesday evening once every-other month (or more regularly when we have a larger project). Our next meeting date and time will be decided upon soon. If you are interested in being part of this group, contact Aaron Shoppa.

Much more is in the works, from the make-up to our Laser-tag Event
to service and other fellowship experiences.
