You are invited to join your friends at Gloria Dei in a variety of lifelong learning opportunities:
Current Event Discussion Group
You are invited to join us on Wednesdays from 5:00 - 5:45 PM in the Lounge. This is perfect for parents of children in the choir; those arriving early for Church Night Supper; those looking to make some new acquaintances; and those wanting to discuss current items in the news along with the relevance to modern Christian living. Based on The Wired Word, we link the latest headlines to appropriate Scripture. Each week will include biblical commentary and discussion questions related to a recent topic in the news. No commitment - just drop in.
Walking With Jesus Discussion Group
On Sundays during Lent, from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. in the Chapel. No preparation! Just come and hear a story from someone who encountered Jesus. A short discussion of the story will follow. Each story is only a few pages long. The stories are from people in the Bible we don't usually hear from such as: the mother of Judas, the owner of the room of the Last Supper, the Roman centurion - just to name a few. Hear about Jesus from a different perspective. No need to sign-up; just drop in.
Theology on Thursdays: The Gospel of John
The Gospel of John is the most deeply spiritual of the four gospels. This writing is filled with rich images and profound truths, but John notes that his aim in writing the gospel is that readers will not only believe in Jesus Christ, but that they "may have life in his name." Join us starting March 16, at 1:30 p.m. in the church library for this lively dicussion group. Contact Denise Marnen-Jirka for more information.
Scripture Circle Bible Study
This group gathers on Wednesday mornings from 10:00-11:00 AM in the beautiful church library. This study tends to be a deeper thinking discussion group addressing the scripture lessons for the upcoming week. Contact Pastor Tim for more information.
Word for the Week Bible Study
This group gathers on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 PM to study and discuss the scripture readings for the upcoming weekend worship services, and how the readings relate to their lives. This group tends to have people with a variety of backgrounds and interests. Contact Pastor Kral for more information.
